The Lord's Prayer in Aramaic Course Contents

The Lord's Prayer is the example Prayer which Jesus gives to his disciples in Matthew chapter 6. In this self-contained Course, even if you have little or no grammatical background or knowledge of Aramaic, you will learn to read and understand the Aramaic of The Lord's Prayer in Matthew chapter 6. You will gain many useful and fascinating insights into this classic prayer.

The Lord's Prayer is relevant to all ages and all backgrounds, and understanding it in Aramaic will provide you with deeper and richer insights into God's Word in the original languages.

This Course also serves as an excellent introduction to learning further Biblical Aramaic grammar, as well as other more detailed and systematic courses in Biblical Aramaic.

Stage 2 - Listen To The Lord's Prayer in Aramaic

One you have thoroughly read the accompanying Study Guide, listen carefully to the following narrations of the Lord's Prayer being spoken in Aramaic. The following versions are available:

  • The Prayer being read at normal speed by Ewan, and at a slower speed by Ewan.
  • The Prayer being read at normal speed by a female voice.
  • The Prayer set to background music in both male and female voices.

You can download these versions separately below. Listen to them many times, until you are very familiar with the Aramaic words of Jesus in the Prayer, and can follow along with the written Aramaic in the Study Guide.

Stage 3 - Understand the Vocabulary and Grammar of The Lord's Prayer

Once you have listened to The Lord's Prayer and can follow the Aramaic comfortably, next you need to learn the grammar and vocabulary of the Prayer itself. 

  • Read the explanation of each individual verse in The Study Guide. Every word in every verse is individually explained.
  • Listen to the summary explanations of the grammar and vocabulary of each verse below, until you thoroughly understand the Aramaic of each word for every verse.
